What versions of Form I-9 are valid for use?
Beginning on April 3, 2009, employers must use the 02/02/09 version of Form I-9 for all new hires (and reverifications). The edition of the Form I-9 dated 06/05/2007 will no longer be valid for use as of that date. For more information about the items in the List of Acceptable Documents on the revised Form I-9, see ¶36,240 . Is the Form I-9 available in different languages? Although the Form I-9 is available in English and Spanish, only employers in Puerto Rico may have employees complete the Spanish version for their records. All other employer may use the Spanish version as a translation guide for Spanish-speaking employees, but must complete the English version and keep it in the employer’s records. Do I have to use an official form? Employers may copy or electronically generate blank I-9 forms
