What was Dianas title during her marriage and after her divorce?
As wife of HRH The Prince of Wales, Diana became HRH The Princess of Wales upon her marriage. By virtue of being the wife of the heir to the Throne, she was also Countess of Chester, Duchess of Cornwall, Duchess of Rothesay, Countess of Carrick and Baroness Renfrew. Following her divorce, Diana was known as Diana, Princess of Wales. Despite what was reported by the press then and to this day, Diana was never entitled to be known as HRH Princess Diana, or HRH Princess Diana of Wales. The first form would indicate that Diana was a princess from birth, and the second form would indicate that Diana was a daughter of the Prince of Wales; she was neither of these.
