What was it like growing up in the home of famous songwriters?

It was like growing up in anyone elses home, or so it seemed. For my brother Dane and I, writing songs was just our parents job. We didnt sit around as young children thinking it was different than anyone elses home. Radio was far more than just radio to us. It was a vehicle where we heard the voices of the people who visited our home and the songs our parents were making up. It added a different dimension to radio. It was at this point that we started differentiating our lives vs. other kids on the block. It wasnt just being raised by songwriters — our parents were superstars, and they were the first professional songwriters in Nashville who did nothing but write for a living. The whole town came through our house it had a very social environment. My parents were madly in love, well-liked and great people. We had a real whos who and whats what of Music City USA in that house, from Burl Ives, Robert Mitchum and stars you wouldnt think of being in Nashville, to Eddy Arnold, Marty Robbi
