Hitler bombed all the major cities in the UK to hurt the people and destroy the cities. He was successful in bombing a lot of Cities, but in a way he was not successfull as the British people rose above it all and rebuilt them as soon as they could. Different cities were bombed for different reasons, Liverpool and Glasgow because of the docks. London because it was the capital and again for the docks. Coventry was bombed and in retaliation the British bombed Dresden. Being a pilot whether it was RAF or Luftwaffe would be really stressful as you would never know when it would be your last flight. They all flew on many missions bombing and fighting other fighter planes. They were nearly all young men who were pilots, so yet again another generation was lost. If they were not killed then they were maimed. For the air defence staff well that was watching for planes coming over and getting the fighters there to stop them.
