What was Neil Davis (cameraman) experiences during the Vietnam war?
I suggest you read a copy of the biography, “One Crowded Hour”, written by Tim Bowden. The biography has a lot of good material about Neil although it does gloss over Neil’s “womanising” where he had a female in his bed every night. My personal stories on Neil in this regard are not good. It also glosses over the Opium and Marijuana smoking that Neil participated in. I have no problems with the drug taking although I never participated. Because of the trauma that “war correspondents” saw, they needed an outlet and drugs, sex and booze were the outlets. Neil spent a lot of time in Vietnam and preferred to cover the Vietnamese troops rather than the US or other troops. He also spent a lot of time in Cambodia covering the Second Indochina (Vietnam) War as well. Neil was an excellent cameraman and also had a strong journalistic moral code about what to film and what not to film. I have seen him reprimand other TV cameramen for encouraging people/soldiers to take risks. Even with his faults
