Part of the problem is that the Egyptian accounts are scattered and fragmented, so the legends were never completely told, and worse, without proper order. The primary sources are in the Pyramid Texts, Coffin Texts and hieroglyphic writings on pyramid walls. I find it very confusing and distracting how Plutarch mixed the names of Greek and Egyptian gods. In E.A. Wallis Budge’s translation of A Hymn To Osiris And A Legend Of The Origin Of Horus, it doesn’t mention how Osiris died. Whereas, Plutarch goes into great detail of how Seth and his co-conspirators made a trap for Osiris. He is sealed into a chest and dumped into the Nile Delta, where he is carried out to sea. The Egyptian version tells of Horus dethroning and beheading Isis for protecting Seth. Plutarch does not tell this in his narrative. There are others but these impressed me as being t
