What was the driver behind forming the Lilly Grant Office (LGO)?
Consistent with the 2003 U.S. Office of the Inspector General (OIG) compliance guidance, in 2004 Lilly completely separated its grant process from its sales and marketing functions. Grants must never be based on or linked to prescribing, formulary status, purchasing or reimbursement; therefore, Lilly sales and marketing personnel may not make grant commitments to customers. ALL grant decisions are now centralized through the Lilly Grant Office (LGO).
