What Was The Name Of William Shakespeares Theatre?
Originally, Shakespeare wrote almost exclusively for the Theatre, a playhouse outside of the City of London, in a district called Shoreditch. In 1598, after a rental dispute with the landowner, Giles Allen, the actors in the company, tore down the Theatre, and transported it, lock, stock and barrel, south of the Thames to Bankside, where, about a year or so later, it was resurrected as the Globe.
