What was the process for deciding whether or not T/E should participate in Act 72?
The decision to not participate in Act 72 came after months of discussion, deliberation and public input. Special public meetings were held in November and March to help inform the community about Act 72 and its potential impact on the District and its taxpayers. Act 72 was also discussed at numerous regular Board meetings and committee meetings. In addition, a section of the T/E School District web site was dedicated to providing information about Act 72 and updates were included in the T/E Insight. At the May 23rd meeting, several Board members reiterated that the Board took Act 72 very seriously and made every effort to evaluate its potential benefit to the District and its residents.
