What was the purpose of Soyuz 11 mission?
It was the first flight to world’s first space station (Salyut 1). The previous mission (Soyuz 10) had failed to dock the station. The cosmonauts of the Soyuz 11 remained on Salyut 1 for 22 days, a new space endurance record at that time. They repaired a problem with the air system, they had a fire on the 11th day and the most important part of the mission was to observe a N-1 booster launch, but it was postponed. They tried to use a exercise treadmill, but it caused the whole station to vibrate. They were the first and to date the only humans to die in space.
