What was the relationship between James 1 and Henry VIII?

0

Roughly, James I was the great-grand nephew of Henry VIII. Margaret Tudor, one of Henry’s sisters, married the Scottish King James IV and produced the next Scots monarch James V. He in turn (after a war with his uncle Henry) produced the next in line to the Scottish throne, Mary (Queen of Scots). Mary married Henry Stewart the Lord Darnley in 1565 and the following year James VI and I of England was born. Being Elizabeth I second cousin, and a protestant, he was the only viable choice to become the next King of England. Hope that helps.
