The blockade of West Berlin was Stalin’s move to do two things. One was to make West Berlin fail to Communism by starving them of the food and raw materials they need to survive and recover their industry and economy. The second was to see how the west would respond to their moves. He was trying to see if he could be as lucky as Hitler was when he started taking territory by not doing anything. So he closed all the routes to West Berlin so the Western Allies could not sent supplies to the Bastone of the Cold War, the zit of East Germany. The Allies knew that a bad move would be to fight their way down the roads to West Berlin so they did an Airlift. The Planes will follow planed routes in and out of West Berlin to get all the supplies needed.
