What weight-class of food for a long-haired standard Dachshund?

Personally, I think that breed and size-specific food is pretty much bunk…especially “small breed” food. From what I can tell, they just make the kibble smaller so smaller mouths can eat it. Compare the Pro-Plan small breed protein/fat ratios to the regular Pro-Plan puppy food. Any difference? If not, you have your answer. 🙂 FWIW, I’ve raised 4 Standard Longhairs – from puppyhood – on high-protein adult dog food (28%+ protein). The same thing my Siberians eat. They’ve all grown normally, and without complication. ADD: Just went and compared the foods. The small breed puppy is a little higher protein/fat at 30/20%, whereas the regular puppy is 28/18%. Honestly, I don’t think it will make much of a difference in a 6 month old Dachshund…especially a Standard. If you do decide to switch, just make sure you mix the two for a few days in order to smooth the transition.
