What weight oil do I put in a 460 Ford Engine? Where do I add the oil?
To add the oil to your engine you should use the removable cap on the top right part of the engine. This is where you add the oil at all times. As to the two large chrome pieces on either side of the air filter do not add the oil here. As to the weight of oil you should use depends upon the condition of your engine and the outside temperatures. If you are going to be driving in colder weather then a lighter weight oil would be the best. Or if you are going to be driving in warmer weather you can go with a heavier weight oil. Actually every engine is different. And also depending upon if the engine has high miles or not. The best thing for you to do would be to consult your owner’s manual. This will give you a good idea as to what to use concering what weight of oil you should use. As far as it being a 460… I have one myself… It is a 1978 Ford F-250 4×4. Granted it isn’t the easiest on gas but if I drive mine normally it gets 20-25 miles per gallon. Of coarse this varies at times na
