In history the english, french and dutch were in search of new land to obtain profits in products like tobacco.since at that time pipe smoking came to fashion. The dutch however were the foster fathers of the french and english settlement since they were the ones who show little interest in planting in the “new world” . Though however they possibly obtain the greatest profits from carrying slaves across the Atlantic ocean to assist in cultivating the land. The french i believe did something similar to the english but they only settled in land that had been abandon by the english or spanish colony.
