What were some accomplishmetns of John Adams during his time of presidency?
In 1797, John Adams was elected the second President of the United States. While President, he worked on many issues such as: Relations with Europe; there were many conflicts with France because they were going through the French Revolution. The United States even gave money for new ships and to build up their army for war, but it was never needed. There were many battles fought at sea, though. The Alien and Sedition Acts were passed by congress to scare foreign agents out of the country and stop the attacks of Republican editors. Also during his presidency was the XYZ affair. It was a pact made with France; they wouldn’t negotiate with out a bribe. Often President Adams lost approval because he acted on his own. He was the first president to live in the White House; it was not completely finished when he moved in. He ran for reelection, but lost.
