the question is a bit misleading, in the sense that there was only “one” renaissance” . Historically, the Renaissance (rebirth) period begun in Italy in the late 1400 and lasted for almost a century : 1500 (the dates are just approximate). From Italy it moved to France, Englannd, Spain, etc. Basically, the Renaissance was a movement of the rediscovery of the past, especially the Greek and Roman classical period. That is why the term “renaissance” was chosen. It really suggests a “rebirth” or “rediscovery” of the classical period in the Greek and Roman civilizations. By classical period, we mean the period in the arts (painting, architecture, literature, etc.) that emphasized beauty and proportions. So renaissance was a rediscovery of the ancient ideal of the beautiful and eternal in everything.
