What were the contributions of the Indian soldiers to the Allies in World War 2?
The Indian forces fought a determined defense of India and to drive the Japanese out of Burma, thereby opening a supply line to the Chinese. The Indian forces (fighting under British command, of course), in conjunction with American forces under Stillwell, were finally successful at building, opening and then maintaining the most critical of supply lines in terribly difficult terrain, and against very fierce and persistant Japanese efforts to prevent them. They were certainly heroes.
