There were many detractors of the New Deal and they came from many different areas. Some felt that the New Deal did not do ENOUGH to help people and that it left many out of government programs. Other detractors said that it did TOO MUCH and was creating a socialized system of government that went against everything the US stood for. One of the specific programs that came under attack was the AAA. With so many people going hungry all over the country, the idea of killing livestock, plowing under crops and destroying gathered food was a travesty. These detractors wanted some type of food program to distrubute the goods that were being destroyed on the farms. (This of course was not helpful to the farm prices, which was why the good were being destroyed in the first place.) The American Liberty League was created by fellow democrats to oppose FDR’s ideas.
