What, Why, and When are Quiet Hours?
Noise can quickly become a problem in the residence halls, because many people live and study together in a relatively small space. Quiet Hours have been established to ensure that students can sleep and study during evening hours. The definition of Quiet Hours as found on page 28 of the Residence Hall Handbook is that Quiet Hours are times during which no music, noise, etc. can be heard outside the confines of individual student bedrooms. Quiet Hours are 8:00pm-8:00am Sunday through Thursday, and from 12:00 midnight to 8:00am on Fridays and Saturdays. During final examination periods Quiet Hours are in effect 24 hours each day. Please also be aware that Courtesy hours are also in effect at all times and are defined as times during which students should consider the impact of their actions upon the residence hall community.
