What would be some good ways to summarize the social and economic causes of the Civil War?
The South was an agrarian society and became too dependent on slaves for their economy when the North suddenly became abolitionist, the South realized that by letting their slaves go free would ruin their economy of course, the Civil War did much worse than that as for social causes, a big one was the overlying thought that the US was not composed of one nation, but rather two regions, the South and the North this was partly due to the North’s emphasis on industry, urban areas, and tariffs, and the South’s emphasis on farming, rural areas, and free trade all of these differences eventually made the South and North look really different
