What would be the best time of year to visit New York?

From my 3 year experience of living in NYC, I would suggest that the best time to visit would be Christmas. It’s beautiful if you love snow and lots of decorations, lights, ice skating, shopping. It’s very beautiful scenery, especially Manhattan. You can just walk down a few blocks in Manhattan and every shop will have some sort of Christmas decorations. To me it’s beautiful. Places to see: Empire State Building, Statue of Liberty, Bronx Zoo (summer time; I wouldn’t suggest summer because it’s TOO hot, and Christmas is of course TOO cold, but it’s romantic and beautiful), Botanical Garden (spring), Coney Island (summer), Metropolitan Museum of Art (Winter), Rockefeller Center (Christmas, you can ice skate there, but it’s very expensive. In 2000 it was $30 per person, but I bet it’s increased by now. I hope you have a fantastic Trip! 🙂 P.S. Times Square is a MUST SEE! I love it there!!!
