What would new Centers mean for LSU and the Baton Rouge community?
Expanding the Centers would: 1) enable more groups to take advantage of adequate facilities that are safe and welcoming places for our ethnic-minority and women populations; 2) provide adequate space for the University community to engage in programs and educational opportunities; 3) enable LSU to enhance recruitment and retention of underserved students by providing more space for student development and enrichment and optional locations for classrooms and faculty-student engagement; 4) allow the University to gain women’s center and black cultural center accreditations; 5) allow for multi-use—multiple groups could utilize the Centers and multiple activities could take place during the same time; 6) provide more office space for growing staff needs and enable visiting scholars and artists to be located within each Center; 7) allow for greater partnerships and collaborations with community partners, thus providing the campus with additional programming and educational opportunities; an
