What year did King Arthur pull the sword out of the stone?
Many people believe that Arthur was no more than legend. Of the historians that do feel that Arthur was a real person, it is disputed when he would have lived. There are figures anywhere between the 5th and the 11th centuries. With there being a few hundred year gap it is hard to pin down exactly when any part of the legend would have occurred. The best known of the early stories began showing up around the eleventh century. In most variants of the story he is represented as being anywhere from an older child to a young man.
