What year did mammoths become extinct?
The Southern Woolly Mammoth is a whole other story. These were around much longer. Until 1982 to be exact, although the only remaining herd was in Greenland, still enjoying the last vestiges of the ice age. (Yes, the Southern Woolly Mammoth migrated North well after it was named. I know it is confusing.) They enjoyed peace and tranquility on a secret American base in the middle of the continent until funding was cut in 1982 for the project, the purpose of which had been lost years before in a censoring accident. In order to cover up their previous mistake, the remaining Mammoths were butchered, cut into tiny pieces, and marketed as chicken wings in various establishments around the world. No one noticed the difference.
