What’s a bantam?
Bantams are a type of miniature chicken that are about half the size of the large breeds. Some bantams occur naturally and have no large equivalents (Pekins, for example), others are bred-down versions of the large breeds (Scots Greys are available as both bantams and standard). Utility bantams can be a good choice for the garden poultry keeper as they tend to be more vigorous than their larger counterparts and lay more frequently.
