The College is implementing a $2 million comprehensive wayfinding/campus sign strategy to improve safety, service and convenience. A recent survey taken by the College showed this was a high priority for the citizens we serve. We are also significantly improving the visual appeal of the area, a great benefit to the Village. As part of this initiative, COD is replacing its old, damaged electronic signs with new ones in the same locations. During the week of June 14, the Village of Glen Ellyn sent a city inspector to threaten College of DuPage contractors with citations if they continued to erect new electronic signs. On Friday, June 18, COD filed suit against the Village on the grounds that our electronic signs are crucial to maintaining safety for our more than 30,000 students. The court said that we had a compelling argument but did not see an emergency need to immediately restrain the Village without further legal deliberation, which the College is currently pursuing.
