Whats it like to attend a photography school (shashin senmon gakko) in Japan?

The way you described this school it makes me want to be there and learn all those new stuff about photography. I’m a learner, but I do it on my own. Attending a school is one of my main goals, it’s just that I haven’t decided yet which one. You say that attending one in US is much better. I think that every school can teach you something, and from each one you get useful information. You can get information on blogs and sites like polaroid foto bar, too. But that will serve only as a start, for amateurs. I want to be a professional photographer. That’s why I will attend a photography school and learn as much as I can from them.

Well, you do learn how to use different cameras and studio equipment and have a few fun photo sessions with live models (always female and sometimes nude). But the school does not really train you to become a real artist. Attending a photo school in the U.S. is much better. Nevertheless, attending a photo school in Japan will enable you to meet a few teachers who are prominent Japanese photographers and you can make a lot of friends among your classmates. Knowing people can lead to jobs. For more details on attebnding a photo school in Tokyo, see the following article: Attending a Photo School in Japan.
