Whats next from Graves team?
Michael Graves designed your toilet-bowl brush. How may he be of service to you now? Target, celebrating the fifth anniversary of its relationship with the populist architect, wants the public to propose what they might like his work group to design next. Michael Graves Design Group – a cadre of 30 designers – already has stamped his signature scribble on some 800 products for Target, some as mundane as a feather duster, others as retro-chic as a fondue pot. The crew meets weekly to consider what object might be added to a line of products designed to improve quality of life for the masses. “I think using well-designed objects gives us pleasure, even in performing the most mundane of everyday tasks,” Graves wrote in an e-mail exchange. We often design things we need in our own homes. We want to be proud of them, and not hide them away.” If you’ve got an idea for a new Michael Graves product, then fill out an entry form available at Target stores and at www.target.com through July 3.
