Normally, I heat my home with wood. Most people who burn wood for heating purposes need to cut wood; at least from time to time. For this purpose, I have some of the world's finest chainsaws. However, every now and then, my chainsaws are knocked out of commission and I have to rely on using a manual saw. I have several bow saws in my tool shed. The saws are called bow saws simply because the handle is in the shape of a bow. This saw is made of cheap tubular steel and it has a hardened steel saw blade. The blade attaches to two hooks, one on either side of the bow handle. A tensioner clamp tightens the blade to make it taught. This bow saw comes with a 21" blade, which is a good, compact size for trimming branches. Blade sizes are not interchangeable with this saw. The saw is rather easy to use, and it makes quick work out of cutting wood (if you do not have a chainsaw!).
