I have worked/volunteered at cat shelters for 13 years. I have 5 cats of my own, and have participated in cat health and behavior forums for about 6 years. Based on experience, I wouldn’t recommend anything but Advantage. It can safely be used on young kittens (appropriate dosage, of course!) and it is extremely effective at killing fleas. I have never seen nor heard of a negative side-effect associated with using Advantage to kill fleas on cats. Cheaper, over-the-counter flea treatments have proven to cause illness and even death in cats. These products also are usually not effective in controlling fleas.
