Whats the best substitute for lard in cooking
Coconut oil! this is the hands-down best substitute for lard, butter, and oils of any sort. I have used coconut oil in every recipe in my kitchen. From frying fish, to baking cakes coconut oil always comes through for me. This is a way better option because coconut oil is a medium chain fatty acid, which means that it is basically good for you–not like that heart-clogging stuff you scoop out of a can. Coconut oil solidifies at 70 degrees, so you have to melt it to mix it into recipes. But let me tell you, this stuff is good. And good for you. Google the health benefits of coconut oil and you will not be disappointed.
The best substitute for lard would be either Coconut oil or Vegetable oil especially if you’re talking about frying your food. Olive oil is indeed healthier than these two but takes more time to heat up unlike coconut or vegetable oil. If you’re worried about your health, I would suggest using coconut oil as it is far healthier than vegetable oil or lard and cost much less than Olive oil.
