What’s the best way to get to Sedona?

There is a very tiny airport here, so if you fly small planes you can land right in Sedona. However, most people are coming in from Phoenix on Interstate 17 North. There are two exits you can take to Sedona. The first one is exit number 287 which is Hwy 260 towards Cottonwood/Camp Verde (west). Take a left on Hwy 260 and travel about 15 minutes and you’ll enter Cottonwood. At the major stoplight, take a right on Hwy 89A to Sedona and you’ll arrive in about 15 more minutes. This is a beautiful drive I take often on my way to shop in Cottonwood. Generally this route is about 10 minutes faster than taking the second exit. The second exit is Hwy 179 with a big TO SEDONA sign and understandably, this is the way most people come. It’s longer, but it is very scenic. They have finally finished the construction along this route (it’s been 5 years!), so don’t worry about getting stuck in construction traffic anymore.
