Whats the cause of the “Identity Theft” problem?
If there was not a national id number for every person in the U.S.A. there would not be an “Identity Theft” problem. Without a national id number for every person in the U.S.A. businesses would just use their own methods to identify their customers, employees and other people they do business with. Many businesses would probably create their own account numbers to identify employees and customers. Most people would probably have several of those account numbers for companies they worked for or did business with. And most importantly their would not be a single ID number ie: Social Security Number a criminal could use to steal your identity if he got the number.
