Whats the deal with the move to UPN?

0

In April 2001, UPN bought the rights to air 44 episodes (2 seasons) of Buffy, reportedly paying roughly $2.3 million per episode (substantially more than the WB’s reported offer of $1.6 million, and more than twice the original price tag of $1 million), for a total of $102 million. I’ve archived some of Joss’ comments about the move (posted at the former official site’s posting board) here. A couple of archived articles about the move can be found at E! Onlineand Time.com. Despite previous comments made by Sarah Michelle Gellar’s that she would only stick with the show if it stayed on the WB (which she later retracted), she was contracted to stay on through Season 7 and did not attempt to get out of her contract.
