We are often asked the difference between 2D and 3D laser etched images. The simple explanation is: 2D means height and width, 3D is height, width and depth. We also offer a technology called 2 1/2D laser engraving which is explained below. The 2 1/2D process turns an ordinary photograph into a work of art. The detail and image quality are unmatched and we are the only US company offering this. Normally a 3D image requires a specialized 3D scanner. We now offer 3D heads converted from traditional portrait photographs. 2D Image Etching To do a 2D face or other 2D image all we need is a digital image (see acceptable formats listed below) from a digital camera or a traditional photograph scan using a common image scanner. We can etch almost any 2D image inside a crystal. The file formats we accept are: JPG, .GIF, .TIF, and .BMP We can do multiple people, full body shots, buildings, picture of your home, pets or almost anything.
