Whats the difference between a folder and a file in Pine?

Actually, a Pine folder is a specially-formatted file. When you open a Pine folder, the messages are displayed so that you can read or otherwise work with them individually. When you save a message to a previously-existing folder, the message is appended (tacked onto) the folder/file. You can download an entire folder/file (except your INBOX), to print all the messages in that folder/file. Caution: For file maintenance purposes, it’s best to delete folders or individual messages in a folder within Pine, rather than from a file maintenance menu.
