this is a great question.,,,,neurosurgeon is a surgeon who is dealing surgically to the brain ,skull ,vertebral columun,.....if one patient undergoes road traffic accident he may develop bleeding between skull and brain ,this bleeding haematoma should be evacuated immediately ,not to do pressure over the brain,.....so this need neurosurgeon to open skull and remove this collected clotted blood ,.......u get my point ,.......but neurologist is a physician [medical doctor] who dealing with neurological system of the body with medicines and without surgical intervention ,if he needs surgical intervention he will call neurosurgeon ,...........i will give u example for neurologist,..when old man has spontaneous thrombosis in one of his brain vessels ,he need medical treatment to disolve this clotted blood as he is not in need for surgical intervention ,.......so neurosurgeon and neurologist are a combination of doctors who are dealing which neurological system surgically or medically ,.... ...  more
