Whats the difference between a nit and a head louse?

A nit is the common name for the little white egg cases that you see in clusters close to the skin. They are so well glued on that you are more likely to pull out the hair than pull off the nits. If the nits are part way up a strand of hair don’t worry, they will have hatched a long time ago, just let them grow out. Head lice are the creepy crawly things!
