Whats the difference between a subject search and a keyword search?

A subject search scans only one field of a database (the subject field). A keyword search scans several fields (usually author, title, abstract, and subject). You may be using the exact same terms in the two searches but you’re scanning more with a keyword search. That’s not always a good thing; sometimes a search is easier to control if you limit it to one field.
