ASP is an ISAPI (Internet Server Application Programming Interface) that runs on Microsoft IIS and PWS Web servers. An ASP page is basically an HTML page with embedded server-side scripting. When the Web server receives a request for a page with an .asp extension, it processes the page through the ASP engine, which interprets the scripting, and combines it with the HTML to create a dynamically-generated HTML page which is sent to the browser.
