Whats the difference between bottled drinking water, distilled water, and spring water?
Bottled drinking water, like Dasani or Aqua Fina is regular municipal water that has been charcoal filtered to remove odors and flavors. It is processed through reverse osmosis to remove most of what is dissolved in the water. Then minerals are added back so the water tastes better. Distilled water is made by heating any water, usually municipal tap water. The steam created condenses on cold plates and this water is collected. It is essentially pure with nothing dissolve in it. It usually tastes flat and boring and in large amounts is dangerous to drink because it pulls sodium and other electrolytes out of the body. Lastly, spring water is water that comes from naturally occuring underground sources. It may be filtered to remove suspended solids, or treated to kill dangerous bacteria, but it gererally is not, it is usually bottled just as it comes from the ground. This is often the best tasting bottled water.
