Whats the difference between cicadas and locus?

You mean locust It is actually a misnomer for the cicadas which it’s proper name. The cicada is not a grasshopper or a locust. They are called locust because they have the same 17yr. life cycle. They are also called harvest flies because that is what they look like – giant flies and they usually occur at or near harvest time. Their singing can drive you nuts!
