Whats the difference between drowning and suffocating?
Actually, there is no difference. When someone drowns it’s not because of water in the lungs. It’s because the pharynx or larynx has clamped shut in reaction to water hitting it. The water only enters the lungs after you die and the muscles relax enough to allow water to enter the lungs. So even with drowning you “suffocate” and die from oxygen deprivation of the brain and heart.
