Whats the difference between guitar tablature and guitar chords?

You’ve gotten some good answers, but put very simply, tablature is a means of showing the 6 strings of a guitar as lines on paper. The good thing about tablature is it shows you exactly where the note is on the neck…for example there are numerous ways to play an E note, but did the guitarist play an E on the 4th string, 2nd fret, or an E on the 2nd string 5th fret, or just an open 1st string? Knowing where exactly the licks are played on the neck can make what seems a difficult piece much easier. Chords are just a series of notes played simultaneously. tab does indicate chords too….here’s what a basic C chord might look like in tab…X means do not play that string.
