Whats the difference between Indie, Alternative and Grunge?

Grunge uses power chords more than indie or alternative. The vocals in grunge usually sound like a moan or a yell. Grunge bands: Alice in Chains, Nirvana, Soundgarden Alternative is a bit lighter than grunge. Some people confuse alternative with pop-rock sometimes, so that’ll give you an idea of what alternative sounds like. (but alternative isn’t pop-rock) Alternative bands: The Academy Is, Foo Fighters, some Radiohead songs Indie is kind of like a cross breeding between techno and rock. Not much vocal range, I’ve heard some people describe indie vocals as ‘robotic’.
