Whats the difference between lobbyists and pressure groups?
In principle there are not too many differences, however, here are some important ones. – I believe lobbyists need to be registered. – Pressure groups do not necessarily ever meet with the political leaders they try to influence, using instead media and grass-roots campaigns. Lobbyists use personal connection to meet with the political leaders and their staff. – Pressure groups usually operate in the open, though sometimes they use misdirection to hide their true agenda. Lobbyists frequently work outside the limelight and their influence is not seen by the public except through its impacts.
