There are 2 quite distinct species of Maca: • Lepidium meyenii Walpers and • Lepidium peruvianum Chacon Lepidium peruvianum Chacon is the only species shown to have a therapeutic effect and importantly only Lepidium peruvianum Chacon grown above 4,000m has been proven to have therapeutic efficacy. Lepidium peruvianum Chacon also contains several different phenotypes or sub species. Each phenotype has a specific physiological affect on the body with Maca-OG™ containing a specific phenotype combination. NHI standardises Maca-OG™ to ensure that every batch is consistent with the quality of the product used in our clinical trials.
