Whats the difference between metal or plastic?
Most beginners would/should start out with the plastic variants as metals can tend to be quite pricey and more suited for advance play. However, do not underestimate plastic yo-yos. Many professionals still choose plastic over metal yo-yos. Metals have an edge over plastic yo-yos in the area of workmanship and finesse. Aesthetically, metal yo-yos tend to look cooler and be more appealing. However play wise, both plastic and metal yo-yos do not differ much and are quite comparable. DO NOT be mislead thinking that by using a metal yo-yo, you will instantly be a better yo-yo player.
