Whats the difference between psychogenic and neurological causes of amnesia?
Psychogenic would result from a psychological basis — as in response to anxiety, trauma, etc. Neurological causes would be from physical causes in the neurological system — some type of brain dysfunction. Just as an aside, some conditions that are considered “psychogenic” are either conditions that the doctors can’t find a cause for, don’t have the technology to diagnose the issue properly, or just have no idea what is causing it. Psychogenic is a catch-all term for basically anything that the docs can’t find a physical cause for. For example, fibromyalgia and even epilepsy were once considered psychogenic. Hope this helps!
